HVLT shell technology gives this shell pack a big bottom

DW's Horizontal Outside + Vertical Low Timbre Inside (HVLT) shell technology uses the same stacked vertical-grain wood ply orientation as its groundbreaking VLT method, for a lower tone with no compromise to resonance or attack. But DW found that by using a horizontal-grain outer ply, the shell's tension was increased for an even deeper sound. Sweetwater drummers were impressed with the impact this had on the entire kit: toms had deeper fundamentals for better live projection, and the bass drum sounded downright thunderous in lower tuning ranges.
